On Saturday we had the great pleasure of spending a few hours on a sandy bank of the Rivanna with the Silver family, who are on the brink of launching the Rivanna River Company, Charlottesville’s first ever paddlesports outfitting service. My Virginia hometown sorely needed its own fleet of rental canoes, kayaks, and SUPs so people of all means and abilities could enjoy the downtown river. Gabe and Sonya Silver saw an opportunity to make boating recreation accessible to everyone in their beloved community of Charlottesville, and I for one am excited to see their business thrive.
But this is a child photography blog! Fortunately the Silvers supply not only equipment rentals, but also cherubic child models. Their two-year-old daughter W is already a true outdoorsperson like her mom and dad. In fact on Saturday she seemed to consider herself the rightful captain of the family fishing vessel and on several occasions tried to hijack the canoe. She may not know how to work a set of binoculars, but I would trust her as my river guide any day of the week.
